You can enjoy wonderful cycling in the Morvan, with many beautiful cycling routes.
From the campsite, you can cycle straight into the forest! With a mountain bike, you can explore the hilly forest trails, and for a regular bike there are plenty of flatter routes suitable for short or long rides. In the immediate surroundings of our nature campsite Vue du Lac, seven signposted cycling routes are available, ranging from 35 to 83 kilometres in length. A little further away, there is an abundance of additional cycling routes.
Heading north, you cycle towards the Morvan nature park, where you can climb the highest mountain, Mont Folin (950 m). There are also beautiful flat routes along the Canal de Nivernais. To the south, you can cycle along the Loire, and south of Gannay-sur-Loire there are stunning sections along the Canal Latéral.
Along the way, you will encounter idyllic landscapes, ride through picturesque villages and pass Romanesque churches. Cycling between meadows and along historic lock keeper’s houses, you can enjoy wonderfully quiet roads. A section of the extensive French long-distance cycling route Voie Verte is also located nearby and is a real pleasure to ride.
More cycling routes can be found online. Here you will discover over 800 kilometres of cycling routes in our region, via (car-free) towpaths, secondary roads, former railway lines or through vineyards across four different departments. Even more routes are available at the Tourist Offices (Office de Tourisme) in Cercy-la-Tour, Moulin-Engilbert, Luzy, Bourbon-Lancy and Decize. In Fours, there is also an annual cycling event.
If you are more interested in real road cycling competitions, you can also take part in these. For more information, please visit the website of the FFCT.

FISHING

Our campsite is located next to a lake. In fact, it is a large fish-breeding lake of over 28 hectares. Every two years during winter, the owner drains the lake and catches the fish near the sluice, after which they are immediately loaded into refrigerated trucks. The sluice is then closed and the lake refills naturally. Fishing in this lake is therefore not allowed.
You can fish freely in the surrounding area. In Fours, about 6 km north-northeast of the campsite, there is a dedicated fishing lake. Fishing is also possible in the Loire, the Alène and the Canal du Nivernais. Around Montambert (approx. 4 km south), there are 32 small lakes for fishing. A fishing permit can be obtained at various addresses in Fours and Montambert.

SWIMMING

The lake next to the campsite provides refreshing cooling during summer and contributes to a pleasant microclimate. Children can enjoy playing at the small beach, while parents can relax in sun or shade and keep an eye on them.
The lake is not a recreational lake and is privately owned. It is not part of the campsite. The owner uses it for fish farming. Swimming is entirely at your own risk, as the owner is not insured for this. Boats, inflatables and air mattresses are not allowed.
There are many other swimming opportunities nearby, including swimming pools and lakes where inflatables are permitted. A list of swimming locations is available at the tourist information point.
WALKING
From the campsite, two beautiful walks start directly, one of which circles Lake Étang Donjon. In the surrounding forests, you may spot many bird species such as hoopoe, golden oriole, sparrowhawk, buzzard, grey heron, little owl, red kite, kestrel, nightingale and kingfisher. Over 50 species have already been recorded locally. With a bit of luck, you might even see deer or other wildlife.
